TLDR:

Don't want to read about why we made the script - and just want to run the 1 magic command to make it work? Here it is:

When creating servers from DigitalOcean we usually find ourselves reaching for the "One-click apps" images - and as we usually use PHP for client backend work, we love to use the LAMP on 16.04 image โค๏ธ

Creating a new DigitalOcean droplet is SUPER easy!

Creating a new DigitalOcean droplet is SUPER easy!

The issue with this is it comes with PHP 7.0, which is not good enough for the latest Laravel's versions โ˜น๏ธ. Luckily, we've done the hard work finding the best options for a quick and painless upgrade - and we've rolled it into a small BASH script for easy use ๐Ÿš€

Whats the best way to use this script? Easy - here is what we do. After this has ran, the script will print the version it has updated to! It'll take 30 seconds to a minute depending on internet speed!

Amazing! In just 1 command, you'll have the latest and most update version of PHP you'll find! Big props to Ondล™ej Surรฝ who maintains the package repo we use for PHP - you can donate to him here: https://deb.sury.org/#donate
